Davis Gallagher
Student Rep.
(Maryland)

Hello. My name is Davis Gallagher. I attend Community College at CCBC in Essex. I was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland but I desire to travel throughout the country, and travel and work with seperatist movements in either southern Brazil, Ireland, South Africa, or Australia. I enjoy photography, writing, reading, history, philosophy, debating, and music. My favorite genres of music include all metal, classical, classical rock, Irish folk, some bluegrass, punk, and techno. Philosophers such as Nietzsche, Rousseau, John Locke, Machiavelli, Plato, Aristotle, and Hobbes accompany me in times of boredom. I became political at the ripe age of twelve and identified with the radical left, and soon after, the radical right. Around the age of fourteen, I gained a balanced perspective and from then on, my beliefs coincided with libertarian school of thought. I was propelled into libertarian thought from my own reflections on ideas such as freedom, government responsibilities, history and so on. This and my dissapointment in the Republican Party led me to the path of libertarianism. Libertarianism is a more gratifying ideology for me because it has stances on the left and on the right, as I do. In the past, I would find an organization that sounds great for me but they would always have a significant difference from my beliefs, thus turning me off. The Libertarian Party is the only party that I completely agree with and is the only party for me. I am a founding member of the Students for Social Justice which is a grassroots activist collective at my school with the aim of informing, organizing and facilitating local communities about issues that directly concern them. I became aquanted with Dr. Tom Stevens through a libertarian mailing list. I was searching for a political activist to interview for a school project and Dr. Stevens offered to be interviewed. Shortly after the interview, Dr. Stevens surprised me with an offer to be mentored by him as the Student Representative for my school to the Libertarian Freedom Council because of my interest in political activity. I gratefully accepted the offer and intend on proving my worth to Dr. Stevens and the Libertarian Party/movement by doing whatever I can to spread the influence of libertarian philosophy and of course promoting liberty. Forever in the name of Liberty, Davis Gallagher
