Hello, my name is James Dorans. I have been a Libertarian for about 12 years because I believe in a small government like our founding fathers believed in. I was raised a Republican and believed in everything Ronald Reagan and Barry Goldwater talked about but the Republicans have abandoned their way towards Liberty and now are going the wrong way as well.

Even though the Libertarian's values are great we must get some serious wins and going radical is not the answer to win seats, and so forth. In that quest we must court disillusioned Republicans (moderate and real Conservatives like Bob Barr) and Conservative Democrats, ones that do not want socialized healthcare.

What may be surprising is that I believe in the war with Iraq because the US in the era of the cold war (which seems to be before some of these members life times) made Saddam an unequal superior power in the Middle East so we must bring him down. Our Forefathers believed in higher causes than themselves and wanted to see freedom and democracy around the world as well. Some here did not mind when the French and the Dutch spilled blood for the US freedom. Even though in my beliefs we needed to go to this war we should learn why we had to and change our foreign policies so we would not have to go to war like this again.

Also we should show people why lowering the size of government would stop pork barreling and increase capitalism so small and medium size companies can compete in foreign market places. This would also make elections cheaper because big corporations would not find it profitable to donate huge sums of money. The McCain/Feingold bill is a big joke.

I believe in the 2nd Amendment is just as important as the first. Aristotle wrote "As long as people bare arms head strong tyrants would stay in line."

We should also tell the follies of the IRS and show that the current way of collecting taxes actually breaks 2 older amendments the 5th and the 14th. The 5th because when you fill in your tax forms you are incriminating yourself. The 14th because not everyone is under the same tax laws.

About the drug laws, we should point out about how this intrudes into people's personal freedoms and costs money which the government could use against the terrorists who are out to kill us by the way.

Also we must not muffle or speak about any body muffling voices or we will lose. I see muffling on both ends of the so called aile.

Well enough with my grand standing. Let's keep up the fight for liberty but also understand that we must win to achieve victory.
