Greetings from Pittsburgh. I was flattered to have been asked by Dr. Tom Stevens to serve as an officer on the Libertarian Freedom Council, and I humbly accept the position of Research Coordinator for the LFC. With entirely too much time on my hands and an addiction to using the Internet, serving as Research Coordinator seemed appropriate.

I've been a member of the Libertarian Party since 1981, having voted for Ed Clark for President in 1980. As much as I liked Reagan's small government rhetoric, I'm proud to say that I never actually voted for him. This despite the fact that I was a registered Republican, having converted from being a registered Democrat in the foolish belief that they actually believed in smaller government. Unlike perhaps most others here, I cannot say that I was a "born libertarian," but owe my enlightenment to Milton Friedman.

The first state party to which I belonged was the LP of Ohio, where I served as Secretary for two years and a candidate for State Senate in 1982. I've also been a member of the Michigan, Virginia, Illinois, and now Pennsylvania LP's, and am a founding officer of Outright Libertarians of Pittsburgh (the first chapter outside of Atlanta). Having attended nine national conventions since 1983, I highly recommend them to anyone even casually considering attending the next one.

Should you need your research coordinated, please feel free to contact me at [e-mail address removed]. I respond best to lighthearted banter; it was all I could do to write this brief bio in a non-satirical manner. ;-)

Jerry
